Parents
When your son or daughter starts planning a gap year or a month or two prior to going to university or getting a job it can be a worrying time. For many parents this is the first major activity that the teenager has prepared entirely on his/her own.
While some teenagers are willing and able to ask for parental support, others seem to feel that everything can be arranged at the last moment or that travel arrangements “just happen.”
To help your son or daughter plan the trip and to ensure that he or she makes the best use of the time away, we have produced the Gap Year Journey Planner.
It has two unique benefits.
Firstly, it gives a framework into which the travelling can be organised and details of arrangements written down.
Secondly, it ensures that the planning side of the travel is recorded. This will be of great benefit when it comes to applying for university or a job, because it will mean that all the work in setting the trip up can be recalled.
There is no doubt that both Personnel Directors and Admissions´ Tutors in universities are much more impressed by a person who can talk about the way in which arrangements are made, rather than by one who simply says, “I went to Peru – it was good.”
Yet it is the detail of the early arrangements that can most easily be forgotten. The Gap Year Journey Planner ensures that they are preserved and can be used in applications and interviews in the future.
